“Sanbo-Ji, Tempio dei Tre Tesori" (Temple of the Three Treasures) is a residence for the practice of Zen located ten kilometers from Berceto in Parma province in the heart of the Tusco-Emilian Apennine range. It remains open all year round. It is a temple devoted to peace and serenity where we may embrace silence in harmony with the entire universe, accompanied by other residents and Zen Buddhist monks. In Japanese Sanbo-Ji means Temple of the Three Treasures (the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha). Master Tetsugen Serra founded Sanbo-Ji in 1996, taking advantage of existing but run-down rural buildings, which were reconstructed with the utmost respect for the environment. Also, new constructions in the purest traditional Zen style were added. The natural, unspoiled landscape encompasses various spaces, such as the Zen garden, and the nearby fields and woods, where guests are welcome to ramble. A 250 square-meter hall equipped with Japanese tatami and zafu cushions is available for various activities. In case anyone chooses to practice Zen meditation, its doors remain open day and night.
