Appointed successor of Tetsugyu Soin Ban Roshi (see above) of the lineage of Harada Daiun Sogaku Roshi, Tetsugyo Deguchi completely renewed Tosho-Ji Monastery in Tokyo. In Italy he contributed to the growth of the "Enso-Ji - Il Cerchio" Monastery in Milan and to the foundation of the “Sanbo-Ji - Tempio dei Tre Gioelli” (Temple of the Three Treasures) where he regularly directs intensive Zen retreats (Sesshin).

The contribution of Tetsugyo Deguchi, Abbot of the "Tosho-Ji International Zen Centre", has been critically important in the spread and growth of Zen at "Il Cerchio" in Italy.
He was initiated in the practice of Zazen at the age of sixteen and was ordained monk at thirty.
He studied Law at the University of Chuo while residing at Tosho-Ji Temple. The Dharma was passed on to him, and he succeeded Tetsugyu Soin Ban Roshi of the lineage of Harada Daiun Sogaku Roshi.
