What is Zen? Zen is our true life, free and unconditioned, which in Buddism is called “Buddha nature”. We are all free and unconditioned in our original state, we need only return to have this experience, and Zen indicates how. What is meditation? What is awareness and how can I experience it? Every time you eat, be just the act of eating. When you walk, be just the walking. When you work, be just the work you are doing. When you drink a glass of water, pay attention to whether it is hot or cold. This is awareness, but if you find yourself pondering why water is water, the awareness has already vanished. Are there other forms of Zen practice besides meditation? The life of every day lived with awareness is the practice of Zen. Is a Zen practitioner a vegetarian? A Zen practitioner is what he is. Can I practice Zen without converting to Buddhism? Zen does not require conversion, being the Way of our original nature. It is beyond every creed, dogma or religion.
